Advice for the application of the Blue Whale Conservation Management Plan

To address questions regarding the interpretation and application of the Blue Whale Conservation Management Plan, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE) has published Guidance on key terms within the Blue Whale Conservation Management Plan.

To support DAWE's guidance, and respond to questions about the application of the plan to environmental impact assessments, NOPSEMA and DAWE have published a series of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

The FAQs apply to referrals assessed under Part 7 to 9 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and to offshore project proposals and environment plans assessed under the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Environment) Regulations 2009.

The FAQs will be updated to provide further clarification and/or to answer new questions where needed. To suggest an update please contact feedback@nopsema.gov.au.
