Christmas edition of the regulator magazine out now

Take a look at the latest edition of NOPSEMA’s quarterly magazine – The Regulator.

In this fourth edition for 2020, we highlight NOPSEMA’s role in ensuring industry compliance with the legal requirements for maintaining and removing offshore property and equipment no longer in use.

As the offshore oil and gas sector continues to mature, decommissioning activity will increase, bringing challenges and opportunities. This includes up to 300 non-operational wells in Commonwealth waters awaiting permanent abandonment.

In addition to finalising a policy regarding maintenance and removal of property, NOPSEMA has requested feedback on new industry guidance, with a focus on managing the risks associated with ageing assets.

Interested stakeholders are encouraged to review the guidance note and provide feedback for consideration in its finalisation and subsequent use.
