In the first edition of The Regulator magazine for 2023 we are excited to introduce our new CEO Sue McCarrey, who joins us following eight years at the helm of the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator. Sue has quickly brought herself up to speed and has laid out the challenges and opportunities on the horizon that she will be focusing on.
Also highlighted in this edition, we dive into announcement of a second area proposed for future offshore renewables development, as well as the release of NOPSEMA's new Research Strategy.
Finally, we have an inside look at the basic emergency and safety training required to go offshore, including firefighting, ocean survival, and escaping a submerged helicopter. It may seem familiar to industry veterans, but it was certainly a new experience for The Regulator's editor to get an inside look at what is involved in getting the greenlight to go offshore.
