New chair appointed to NOPSEMA advisory board

NOPSEMA has joined the Minister for Resources, Keith Pitt, in congratulating Ken Fitzpatrick on his appointment as Chair of the NOPSEMA Advisory Board for a three year term from 5 September, 2020.

Mr Fitzpatrick brings more than 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry in Australia and overseas, holding a range of senior positions responsible for drilling, development and production. Having served on the Board since March 2016, his appointment as Chair ensures continuity and expertise.

Mr Fitzpatrick replaces Erica Smyth AC, who has served as Chair with distinction since March 2017.

Under the provisions of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006, the Board is established as a separate entity from NOPSEMA to provide advice and recommendations about operational policies and strategies to the Federal Minister for Resources, his state and territory equivalents and the CEO of NOPSEMA.
