New guidance for planning for proactive decommissioning

In accordance with NOPSEMA’s Decommissioning compliance strategy and to assist titleholders develop appropriate decommissioning plans, NOPSEMA has published a new Information paper – Planning for proactive decommissioning.

The information paper is intended to encourage titleholders to adopt good practice when planning for decommissioning. Specifically, to commence planning for decommissioning at the earliest stage of project development and improve the maturity of their plans throughout the life cycle of a petroleum project. 

The information paper also provides information to assist with the timing of regulatory submissions and outlines the level of detail expected in permissioning documents to demonstrate compliance with the OPGGS Act.
