The Offshore Infrastructure Regulator launches website
The Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR) is now online with the launch of a new website.
Established through the passing of the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021 (OEI Act) on 2 June 2022, the OIR has responsibility for overseeing work health and safety, environmental management and infrastructure integrity for offshore infrastructure activities.
The functions of the OIR are administered by NOPSEMA leveraging the Authority’s existing expertise and experience in regulating large-scale infrastructure activities in the marine environment.
A key focus for the OIR will be providing advice and guidance to stakeholders on how to comply with regulatory requirements. An expanding range of supportive documentation will be progressively published on the OIRs website as the OEI Act regulatory framework evolves.
The website is available at oir.gov.au and stakeholders are encouraged to subscribe to receive offshore renewables updates.
