The latest edition of NOPSEMA’s quarterly magazine – The Regulator – is now available.

In this third edition for 2020, we evaluate our new normal of ongoing change and challenging circumstances in light of COVID-19 and the many ways in which the offshore oil and gas sector is responding and adapting.

As the offshore energy regulator, we have an important role in supporting the sector throughout the pandemic. We are having conversations about mental health, contributing factors and risks to personal health, process safety and the incidence of accidents.

Through inspections and other regulatory activities, NOPSEMA is also ensuring that duty holders continue to maintain facilities and actively plan for decommissioning as per the various legislative requirements.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, NOPSEMA is also pursuing a holistic approach to physical inspections at offshore facilities and regulated business premises. Integrated inspections are expected to provide NOPSEMA inspectors with a fuller picture of compliance issues to further enhance regulatory outcomes.
