Update on dof investigation and prosecution

The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions has recently commenced legal proceedings against DOF Subsea Australia Pty Ltd in relation to an investigation conducted by NOPSEMA.

The investigation was initiated from the receipt of complaints from a number of divers who were allegedly injured during a saturation diving project as part of the INPEX Ichthys project in Commonwealth waters in offshore Western Australia in June/July 2017.

The specific breaches of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2006 relate to DOF’s responsibilities as an employer to employees at a facility.

The first court appearance has been listed in the Magistrates Court of Western Australia for 14 August 2020.
