Update on technip prosecution
In August 2016, NOPSEMA submitted a brief of evidence to the Commonwealth Director for Public Prosecutions (CDPP) for their consideration in relation to alleged breaches by Technip Oceania Pty Ltd of provisions of the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Safety) Regulations 2009.
Following a review of the brief of evidence, a decision was made by the CDPP to commence a prosecution, with the trial allocated to commence on 3 December 2018 at the Magistrates Court of Western Australia.
NOPSEMA will continue to liaise and support the CDPP in relation to this matter, and will provide further updates as appropriate. While the matter is before the courts NOPSEMA is not in a position to comment on the specifics of the matter outside of official progress updates.
